I recently discovered a webinar concentrated on AT for reading in classrooms created by AT specialist, Shonda Golden, Ed. S. The webinar discusses multiple resources and technologies that support UDL principles for all kinds of learners.
Bookshare is a free online library that makes it easy for teachers and students to access text electronically, which makes it easier to manipulate text to make it more accessible for students with visual impairments or reading challenges.
Bookshare has partnered with Humanware to create Victor Reader Bookshare edition. Don Johnson has also collaborated with Bookshare to provide strudents with text that can be presented visually and audibly. Text can be highlighted and the pace of the reading can be adjusted to maximize reading comprehension.
